1920s stock scam?

'Left and below: These copies of stock certificates were sent to us from Clyde Joscelyn. Another certificate not shown was for two common shares. Was there in fact a Jones Oil Engine Corp., or was his mother scammed? '

I am enclosing copies of two certificates issued by "Jones Oil Engine Corp." to my mother on Sept. 15, 1920. Does anybody know if the "J.O.E. Corp." ever made an engine, or was it just a scam? Thanks for anything you can find out.
