The Harvest, a Country Fair, was held November 23 and 24, 1985
at the Dade County Youth Fair Grounds in Miami, Florida. This is
the annual fund raising event of the Historical Association of
Southern Florida.

Good weather was on hand for the large crowds that turned out to
see art and craft exhibits, antique cars, country music, clogging,
games, petting zoo and, of course, old engines.

Engines were shown by members of the Florida Flywheelers Antique
Engine Club and other local engine collectors. Over 50 engines, 1
John Deere tractor and a working 1 /3 scale model Case steam
traction engine were displayed.

Many of these engines were belted to machines from the past,
giving viewers a better idea of the variety of work that could be
performed.

It was so interesting talking to many of the people who possibly
had never seen engines like these before or others, who worked with
them in days gone by.

On the Saturday night of The Harvest, arrangements were made for
us to visit the shop of Finlay Matheson. An excellent collection of
steam engines, a beautiful 1903 M.A.N. diesel and other machinery
impressed everyone.

Hopefully, next year will be even better for our engine show at
‘The Harvest’.
