The occasion, the annual Chautauqua County Antique Equipment
Association’s Spring Gas-Up held May 10, 1997, at my place.
I am on the left with my 5 HP Rumsey engine, on the right is Tom
Ball with his Rumsey.
These engines were made in Ripley, New York from 1902 to 1906.
Pictured are two of the three known to exist.

The two men in the middle now enter the picture. On the left is
Lewis Barnes. He is the son of Virginia Rumsey Barnes, the daughter
of Arthur W. Rumsey, son of Charles B. Rumsey, founder of the
company.
To his right is Arthur Busch, his mother is Virginia’s
sister.
Regarding the two small engines. They are Huntingtons, made in
the same place from 1911 till ??? They had a 1913 price of $27.50
and were rated 1 HP. Only three are known to exist. One on left is
owned by Emery Masiker and mine is on the right.
