The MM Collector’s Club’s annual winter convention was
held at the Red Coach Inn in Wichita, Kansas, on February 10, 11,
and 12 and visitors from 17 states were treated to that MM brand of
friendship and hospitality.

A big THANK YOU to Curtis Rink for all his effort to keep
everything going smoothly at the Inn. I thank all the other
families and individuals for opening their farms, machine sheds,
shops, and even their scrap piles for all to examine. I hope I
don’t leave anyone out in listing displays and open houses:
Curtis and Karen Rink, Marvin and Vivian Rink, Charlie and Claire
Sharpe, David Blakely, Joe and Donna Harper, Quentin and Vivian
Base, and Gary and Sharon Base.

Everyone who attended the tours was treated to a fine lineup of
Twin City and MM tractors and equipment. I especially enjoyed the
three-row KT cultivator, the MM U-motor grader, and the Twin City
truck.

The banquet on Saturday capped off a very successful convention.
The meeting was highlighted by nominations for Board of Directors
of the MM Collector’s Club. Nominees: Wilbert Kirchner, Roy Lee
Book, Curtis Rink, Jim Rowsam, Bill Ellis, and Dan Shima. I want to
thank Marvin Kochs who is retiring from our Board. Marvin and his
wife Lucy have dedicated a lot of time and effort to our club and
they deserve a hearty THANK YOU.

Joe Harper introduced our speaker, Dr. James Hoy, English
professor at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. Dr.
Hoy’s slide show and documentary on Kansas and Plain States
Folklore made for an enjoyable history lesson.

Mark your calendars for next February 23-25, and draw your maps
out to aim for Anderson, Indiana, at the junction of I-69 and
Indiana 109. Show hosts will be Mr. and Mrs. Don Kingen, Mr. and
Mrs. Dale Mercer, and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Mercer.
