The 19th Annual LaGrange Engine Club Inc. Show, held September
16 and 17, 1989, started off with rain and cool weather, but by
Sunday we had one of our best shows ever. The rain stopped and the
people came to see the displays of equipment.

Exhibitors had come from many Ohio towns and from several
different states. There was a large assortment of gas tractors-John
Deere, Case, Eagle, and many more. There were threshers and a
stationary baler. There were also steam engines and a Rumely Oil
Pull, along with some scale models of steam engines. The small gas
engines were too numerous to keep track of, with Maytags, Briggs,
Stovers, and some unknown ones. The small scale engines were on
tailgates and anywhere one would sit.

The slow races and games could not be held because of the wet
grounds. We usually thresh wheat, but did not even get the wheat
out of the barn.

We had our first Best of Show display; that distinction went to
Glenn Shoop with his homemade model water wheel and saw mill.

There are many things to see, like water pumps, wooden washing
machine, old popcorn wagon, printing press, apple peeler display,
flour grinding, corn husking, buhr mills, old cars, Indian
motorcycles, and many kinds of crafts and flea market booths for
the ladies. Our next show dates are September 15 and 16, 1990 at
the LaGrange Lions Park, LaGrange, Ohio. Everyone is welcome to
stop by and see us. Have a great summer of old engine shows!
