The Whispering Hills Antique Power Shows were held August 5 and
6, for the Plain and Fancy Fair, and October 7 and 8, for the Apple
Dump ling Festival. The shows were a success, even though we had
very wet weather for both. But even though the rains dampened the
ground, it didn’t dampen the spirit. At the August show we
featured Stover engines, with 13 displayed. Also displayed was a
total of 101 engines, 8 tractors, 17 models, and many interesting
related items. At our October show, we featured Fairbanks-Morse
engines, with 22 displayed; also, a total of 179 engines, 11
tractors, 13 models, and many interesting related items were on
display.
Exhibitors were registered from Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia,
and Maryland. We hope to make our 1996 shows bigger and better yet,
with a little more sunshine, too! This year our shows are scheduled
for August 3 and 4, featuring Witte engines, and October 5 and 6,
featuring John Deere engines.
I would like to invite everyone back for this year’s shows.
And for anyone who hasn’t been here, we welcome you. Also, a
special ‘thanks’ to all my friends and my wife Deb for
helping with registration, and my dad Bill, for helping with the
set-up of the display area, and for introducing me to this great
hobby over 30 years ago.
