What's New at Gas Engine Magazine

A vintage Case steamer or Fairbanks-Morse engine is hard to beat, but old iron collectors know that it's the hunt, finding and recovering that steamer or engine in the face of impossible odds, that's at the heart of the hobby.

From a rare Allis-Chalmers 6-12 tractor cut out of a hedgerow in Texas to a Case steamer pulled from a Kansas river and a huge Stickney gas engine pulled from a watery grave in Idaho, Great Finds: Tales of Hunting Old Iron, shares two dozen stories of tractors and engines found - and recovered - despite incredible obstacles.

And the finding isn't always out in the wild, because sometimes the only way to "find" a piece of old iron is to make it yourself, like the replica 1892 Froelich tractor and 1916 Nilson tractor made by enthusiasts on opposite sides of the country. And none of it happens without the help and support of the old iron community, as Great Finds highlights in stories about vintage equipment found and restored thanks to the help of other collectors.

Nearly 100-pages are filled with great stories and pictures of finds, rescues and rebuilds of collector tractors, engines, steamers and more. More than 20 stories are included in this special collectors edition from Farm Collector.
