1989 is upon us, and we are preparing for the new year! Show directory mailings have gone out and the December 15 deadline will probably have passed by the time you read this. Be sure your information and ads reach us!

This is our largest January issue ever-much of it due to a very long Reflections column. Keep those questions coming-it makes great reading for your fellow subscribers!

Recently, we received a call from Don Nelson of the Norwalk (Connecticut) Seaport Association. It seems that the group (founded in 1978 out of concern for preservation of the Norwalk area's marine heritage) has acquired the historic Sheffield Island Lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1868 and is one of the east coast's largest and most interesting lighthouses-and one of very few totally open to the public.

In beginning the restoration of the two-story, ten room lighthouse, Association members discovered the remains of a Delco light plant. They have asked for our help in their search for information to help with the project. Photos of the Delco plant are not available at this time, but we hope to publish some later on. Anyone who would like to offer assistance to this worthy endeavor should write to Don Nelson, Norwalk Seaport Association, 92 Washington Street, South Norwalk, CT 06854. The Association's phone number is (203) 838-9444.

Happy New Year! This issue marks the beginning of our twenty-fourth year of publication, and we've started out with a bang-hope the same can be said for you! Best wishes, and read on!
