On July 16 and 17, 1994, the Quinebaug Valley Engineers, Branch 5 of Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Association exhibited stationary engines and tractors at the 1994 Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce Auto Auction/Exchange &. Show. Along with club exhibits, Saturday featured an auction, antique truck show, muscle cars, hot rods, and antique motorcycles.

Our tractor parade with about 40 tractors, arranged and narrated by Mark Maikshilo, highlighted the day. As usual, the engines, tractors, models, steam engines and antique bicycles drew a lot of interest.

Pennzoil and Foxwoods Casino displayed race cars both days which appealed to many of the spectators. The show's huge flea market of approximately 250 vendors was excellent and sold everything from car and truck parts, gas engines, mags, carburetors to antiques. Anything from new to old could be found.

Incidentally, the food court was fantastic!

Sunday's show registered a record 600 cars. The field was packed and people were elbow to elbow. Heavy crowds most certainly exceeded 1993's 23,000 attendance figure. Of course, I feel that widespread distribution of our ad in the Steam and Gas Show Directory also helped to boost attendance.

I would like to thank all who made this year's show possible and all who worked at the club table. A special thank you to Herb and Grant for running my Mogul. My gratitude to Dennis Yaworski and James Yaworski II for the two Averys and the Rumely from the Haul of Fame Antique Vehicles, Canterbury, Connecticut. The two Averys, run by Harold and Gene, took first place in the People's Choice Awards for tractors and Martin Peterson's New Way took first place for the engines. A gigantic thank you to Denise's Video for letting us use her excellent tape in advertising this year's show. We cannot wait to see her 1994 tape.

Next year will be our 10th year. Expect a few surprises!
