The 1995 National Show is now history and it was an outstanding one. President Dan Leischner and all members of Branch 15 have worked very hard the past several years as they prepared for the National and their hard work paid off.

As Branch 27 shared in their newsletter, this show was a textbook model of what a show can and should be. It was a result of excellent planning, leadership, cooperation and hours of work by many club members and their families. Thanks again Branch 15 for a JOB WELL DONE!

At the National meeting, we had 36 branches represented out of a possible 67. Several members of Branch 15 have volunteered their services to write a regular newsletter for all National news. This would be a quarterly type newsletter.

Reelected for 1996 National Officers were: Jack Versteeg, president; Charley Stark, vice-president; Menno Kliewer, secretary/treasurer; Jerry Wy-more, Director East Region; and Gus Peterson, Director West Region.

Also at this year's National, we were privileged to present the first five inductees into National Gas and Steam Association Hall of Fame. this year are as follows: Oscar Cooke, Billings Montana, late Founder Oscar's Dreamland; Tom Graves, Forest Grove, Oregon, former president EDGE&TA; Donald G. Knowles, Joliet, Illinois, editor Engineers Engines Magazine; Bill May, San Diego, California, pioneer worker several EDGE&TA branches on West Coast; Charles H. Wendel, Amana, Iowa, Reflections column in Engine Magazine author over 12 books our hobby.

It was learned later on that Oscar Cooke had passed away just a few hours before the National Meeting.

The meeting adjourned and was followed with an ice cream social hosted by Branch 15.

The next few days were spent sight-seeing around the Portland area with my wife Betty, and Harry and Mildred Kloppenburg who made the trip with us. We saw some beautiful country and have the pictures to prove it.
