PUBLISHER'S LETTERBy Gerry LestzWe had an unhappy phone call from J. D. Witthar this month, a subscriber who called to report an unfortunate theft. It seems that sometime around the third weekend in November, a quarter scale Nichols & Shepard engine was stolen from the home of Jack and Susan Terry in Independence, Missouri. The model is from half to three-quarters finished, is burgundy and black, and has no governor, no throttle control and no whistle. The bottom of the firebox is missing. Anyone with information should contact J. D. Witthar at Riverton, WY 82501, phone 307-856-1164 and leave a message if no one is home. We hope that the Terry engine will be returned. By the time you read this, our 1997 Show Directory will be at the printer, getting ready for publication by early March. Remember that we have a deadline of February 15 to get the "early bird" price of $7 postpaid ... 802 of 1318 characters shown.
