Plant EnginesBy Gerald Jacobson212 S. Cedar Ave. Marshfield, Wisconsin 54449 I am sending some pictures of the engines in a station that was built at Whitehorse, Canada, about 1943, when the Alaska Highway was being built. This plant was used to power the airport and the highway construction camp. I worked there for 2½ years and was in the powerhouse part of that time. Specifications of the engines in the pictures. These were made by Fairbanks Morse. They were 6 cylinder, 2 cycle, 14 x 17, 300 R.P.M. and developed 475 hp. The alternators were 300 K.V.A. and operated at 4300 volts, which was transformed to 7200 volts to go on the line. The alternators and other electrical equipment were made by the General Electric Company. 667 of 667 characters shown.
