Hit & Miss Gray

Ray Gardner, Route 2, Box 525, Bandon, Oregon 97411 found this 1 HP hit and miss Gray through a newspaper advertisement.

The engine is a 1 HP hit and miss Gray that he found through advertising in a local paper. The cylinder head was damaged from fire, and the make and break governor had been modified for battery ignition, but the rest of the engine was in relatively good shape. The governor pieces went to Ed Banke for rebuilding. ("Thanks, Ed!" says Ray.)

Upon completion of the restoration of the Gray, Ray first showed it at Brooks, Oregon, at the "Old Engine Steamup" in July 1992. After a few minor adjustments, "It ran great!"
