Doing it the Old Way

This is a picture of cutting wheat on the George Bittle farm near Littles town, Pennsylvania on July 4, 1985. It is a 1916 8-16 Mogul tractor owned and operated by LeRoy A. Baumgardner, Jr. pulling an eight foot McCormick-Deering binder owned and operated by George R. Bittle.

It was good standing wheat, approximately three feet tall. All went well until the bolts pulled out of the tongue which caused a small delay. It was soon fixed and we were going again. All in all, we cut about three acres of wheat.
