THREE HORSE POWER AIR COOLED ENGINEBy Dorward Schleuter400 4th St., S.W. Watertown, South Dakota 57201 I was amazed to read how many different makes of engines were manufactured by the Nelson Brothers and sold by other companies bearing different trade names. Here is a picture of a 3 HP air cooled engine and a close up of the brass name plate manufactured by Nelson Brothers Co., Saginaw, Michigan. One unique feature of this engine is that it cranks counter-clockwise. In the American Gasoline Engine book it mentions that Nelson Brothers manufactured a series of small air colled engines in the 1930s. I take in as many thrashing bees and engine shows as I can throughout South Dakota and Minnesota each summer, but I have never seen an engine like it. If anyone has an engine like mine, I would like to hear from them. 754 of 754 characters shown.
