Red Tractors 1958-2013

The Authoritative Guide to International Harvester and Case-IH Farm Tractors in the Modern Era

The brand-new book, Red Tractors 1958-2013, offers an unparalleled look at International Harvester and Case IH tractors built from 1958 to 2013. With 384 pages and more than 700 images, this obsessively researched book includes fresh information from engineers and executives who created the machines built in America and abroad. Images include never-before-seen concept drawings, prototype and archival images, and new photographs of restored as well as original condition models taken by photographer Lee Klancher.

The book covers how the International Harvester (IH) and Farmall tractors of the 1960s to the 1980s were built, and recounts the dramatic story of how IH came to an end. The book covers the dramatic Case IH merger and the story behind the creation of the Magnum, the red tractor that changed the industry and saved the company. Modern Case IH tractors are covered up to the present day, including the story of the creation of the Quadtrac as well as the beautifully designed MX series Magnums.

With contributions from the likes of Gregg Montgomery, the industrial designer who drew IH and Case IH tractors for decades, and Dr. Glenn W. Kahle, the engineer who oversaw the introduction of the 50 series as well as the creation of the Magnum, this oversized 384-page book provides an unprecedented look at the red tractors of the past 50 years.

“This book is absolutely awesome! I am not sure my words can do it justice, to be honest. The detail in the text and the beauty in the photography are exquisite.”

-Max Armstrong, WGN Radio

“It’s the story that needs to be told and you guys did an amazing job putting it together.”

-Dr. Glenn W. Kahle, engineer known as the “father of the Magnum”

“Whether you’ve always ‘bled red’ or if you’re just tickled by tractors in general, this book is a fascinating read-and a gorgeous ride.”

-Michael Perry, author of Truck: A Love Story

“Red Tractors 1958-2013 is without question the most comprehensive and lavish book ever produced on post-1958 IH tractors and the Case IH models that followed in 1985.”

– Rory Day, Classic Tractor Magazine
