My eyes glanced idly over the sale bill. Not too much there of interest. I wonder if it's worth going. Then down at the bottom were the words 'Tiny Tiger Generator.' Maybe it was something I could use.
Wednesday morning found me searching for the address of the auction. After many wrong turns I arrived 30 minutes early and began to look around. The basement was full of junk. I love buying boxes of junk, but this was junk! The backyard was full of old tools, household goods in front, yard equipment to the side. But where was the Tiny Tiger?
Finally, I started going down all the tables in order and found it with the chain saws: 7' high, 5' wide, and 14' long, weighing in at just 15 pounds. It was the cutest thing I ever saw. I knew I had to have it.
As luck would have it the auctioneer started in the basement. Half an hour later he came out and began on the row of tables I was interested in. On the third table he offered choice. I opened the bidding at $50 and recklessly went over my limit. At $135 I dropped out. My heart was pounding. Would the successful bidder take the Tiger? He stepped forward and chose a power edger. We started over. $60-$70. The engine men at the other end of the table shook their heads, $80-$85. No one was going to have the Tiger except me! The bidding stopped. 'Going once, going twice, sold to number 32.' As I stepped forward to claim my trophy, one of the men remarked how unusual the unit was. I agreed with him, picked up my prize, and placed it in the trunk of my car immediately.
The only other thing I purchased at the auction was a Model T Ford clock.
When I arrived home my wife asked, 'What did you buy this time?' in that tone of voice. When I showed her the Tiger it was allowed in the house, something no engine had ever been allowed before.
My Tiny Tiger #33268 was made by Kigel International Products Inc., 118 N. St. Clair Street, Toledo, Ohio 43604 and is powered by an O&R Compact III engine. Its capacity is 440 watts, 120 volts, and has both 6 and 12 volt battery charging capability.
I wrote the company but the letter was returned stamped 'no such address.' If anyone has information on the unit please contact me. While it is like new, it is missing the air filter.
